Interested in taking in some arts and some eats? Last Saturday's rainy weather provided a friend and I with the perfect opportunity to take in the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Now, I have to be honest and let you know that MIA wasn't exactly a mystery to me, since every middle school student in the state has ventured there on a field trip. I think I even wandered MIA during my freshman year in college, looking for a work of art to sketch for my Creativity in the Fine Arts (CIFA) class. I hated that class. Regardless, I did enjoy my most recent visit to the museum. Did you know that admission to MIA is... FREE? That word holds much value in our society, thus important to include here. Not interested in seeing a lot of art that you've seen before (perhaps you're a frequent visitor of MIA)? I was impressed with the art integration program, mixing in newer pieces of art with the old. In my mind, as I perused, it went something like, "old... old... ancient... hmm... old... WHAT the... oh, new."
Getting our fill with a few hours of the arts, our appetites soon told us that we had better get our fill with the eats as well. Where did we go? The Cafeteria, of course! You need only search as far as Uptown Minneapolis to find this tasty, trendy eatery. And don't bother withdrawing funds from your savings account for the meal, prices here are within reason. Just be hoping that my "within reason" and your "within reason" are the same. If you're pinching pennies, you need not worry. Arriving at 2pm, we made it just in time to enjoy Saturday brunch! We took the suggestion of our server and ordered the cheddar biscuit with chorizo gravy, and were not left wanting. That may have had something to do with the addition of the Bloody Mary bar. As I'm told, a meal in a glass. Olives, pickles, celery, chunks of cheese, bacon and salami were just a few of the garnishes available. The Cafeteria was a great atmosphere for all types! We dined with the young, old, families, individuals and everyone in-between. We give the arts and the eats of Minneapolis a big thumbs-up!
